Audicite

Listen nearby

Transcribe something playing on another screen, such as a video on a TV or laptop.

Listen nearby records what your phone or computer hears. Audicite does not connect to the other screen or to the site playing the video: it transcribes the sound in the room, the same way it transcribes a conversation.

  1. Play the video on another screen, with its sound on through the speakers.
  2. On your phone, choose Listen nearby and allow the microphone.
  3. Keep the phone close to the speaker. The transcript, speakers and fact-checks appear as it plays.
  4. Choose Stop when it ends.

It runs in real time and needs the sound to be audible, so headphones on the playing device will not work. Your phone keeps its screen on while it listens.

Tip: For a recording that is also published as a podcast or on the speaker’s site, paste the YouTube link instead: Audicite looks for that original and transcribes it in minutes.
